\"CRINCRIN - Child Rights Information Network

The Child Rights Information Network (CRIN) is a global network that disseminates information about the Convention on the Rights of the Child and child rights amongst non-governmental organisations (NGOs), United Nations agencies, inter-governmental organisation (IGOs), educational institutions, and other child rights experts. The Coordinating Unit is based in London, UK.

The network is supported, and receives funding from Save the children Sweden, Save the Children UK, UNICEF, Plan International, the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and World Vision International. Project funding is also received from the Swedish Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

CRIN has a membership of more than 1,800 organisations in over 140 countries. About 85 percent of our members are NGOs; and 65 percent are in the Africa, Asia and Latin America. In addition to working with member organisations, CRIN services the information needs of 2500 organisations and individuals who have joined our mailing lists.

Established in 1995, CRIN is a fully established global information network. (A historical overview of CRIN is available, in html and pdf format.) We have an excellent basis on which to build and are embarking on a process of rejuvenating our products.

Our current strategic goal for the next three years is to become a stronger and more influential voice for the promotion of children’s rights. This will involve:

  • Taking a more proactive approach to information management to encourage and fuel advocacy activities
  • Focusing on ‘neglected’ and ‘new and emerging’ children’s rights issues
  •  Developing a more explicit focus on key audiences, identified by their ability to achieve greater recognition of children’s rights
