Call for global bid to find Bader

MP urges govt not to close missing kid’s file
By Sandeep Singh Grewal
Staff Reporter

Bahraini authorities should not close the file of Bader but instead launch an ongoing global campaign similar to Madeline McCann, a legislator said yesterday.
Shura Council Member Faisal Fulad’s remarks came after he visited the family of Bader Jawad Hussain Mubarak yesterday. The three-year-old went missing near his house in Samaheej on July 10. There has been no news about him.
“The mother still feels that Bader is alive and is waiting for him. The case should not be closed by the authorities but should be followed like that of the British girl Madeline who vanished near her house in May.
There have been worldwide campaigns on websites for the kid. Bahrain should adopt this practice and follow up the case,” said Fulad who is also the regional and International Director of Bahrain Human Rights Watch Society (BHRWS).
The legislator urged the Ministry of Interior to constantly inform the public and media on the latest developments in the case.
“There has been no news from the authorities since they announced a reward of BD20,000. They should be learning from experts in the United Kingdom who deal in cases of missing people.
We have two missing kids in Bahrain, Bader and Fatima, and no one even knows about them. This is something disturbing which should not be overlooked,” said Fulad.
The Commander of Police Aviation at the Ministry of Interior, Lt. Col. Waleed Rabeea Al Senan, told the Tribune in an interview that they had conducted aerial surveillance in the Northern side of Muharraq all the way to Fasht Al Jarim searching for Bader.
In 2001, 10-year-old Bahraini girl, Fatima Taweeq, disappeared. There has been no news of her since then.
BHRWS was closely following the case and placed posters in malls and landmarks in addition to setting up of hotlines.
Fulad said that the issue of the two missing children will top the report which they are preparing to be submitted to officials from the United Nations who are schedule to arrive next year.
“Bahrain has signed the convention on children’s rights and there will be a visit by top officials from UN in April. We will highlight the cases of Bader and Fatima in our report,” said Fulad.
The kid’s disappearance hogged newspaper headlines. Posters were placed in malls and multimedia messages circulated to the public.
Bader is the youngest of the five siblings who was last seen wearing a  Beige T-shirt with white stripes and a blue trouser. Anyone having any information can kindly contact the nearest Police Station.

New push for 'Bader's law' -gulf-daily-news - 2-8-2007

A CAMPAIGN to help find three-year-old missing toddler Bader Mubarak was held at the Dana Mall, in Sanabis, yesterday. A petition to push for a children protection law was also circulated during the one-day campaign. It was organised by the Bahrain Human Rights Watch Society and Twinkle Advertising. The law was first called for last month by council member and society regional and international director Faisal Fulad after Bader vanished while playing outside his home in Samaheej on July 10. The law will be drafted by four Shura Council members, including Mr Fulad, and will be submitted by the end of September.

Bader tipline flooded -bahrain tribune -1-8-2007

The hotline set up for Bader by the Bahrain Human Rights Watch Society is being flooded with calls and from those interested in playing a prank. The centre claims they are receiving three-four calls from people claiming to have seen the boy.
Regional and International Director of BHRWS, Faisal Fulad said, “We received a call from someone claiming that they had spotted Bader in Hamad Town market. Then a woman called and said Bader was present at Ras Al Ruman. We contacted the police in the area who said the reports were untrue.” He said they had received an email from a science student who wanted to help the family. “The person asked for Bader’s details which we have provided. It looks like the person lives outside the Kingdom.” The three-year has been missing since July 10. The society will hold a campaign today at Dana Mall from 5 to 9pm and collect e-petitions which they plan to post on the website. “We will hold workshops during the weekends in malls to spread awareness about the child protection law and highlight Bader’s case,” Fulad said. Anyone having any information can contact the nearest police station or the BHRWS on +973-17536222 ext: 204, fax +973 17531822 or via mail to info@bhrws.org.

To the Family and Friends of Bader,

There once was a child called Bader....
So innocent and happy....
His parents' love for him....
Just raised and raised....
Until one day when he was taken....
His family and friends were so very shaken....
They ask themselves why this had to be....
What they would give if they could just see....
His smiling face and twinkling eyes....
And hold him tight when he would cry....
But even though Mom and Dad are not there....
There is someone else who truly cares....
An Angel's been sent from up above....
To keep him safe and give him your love....
They'll bring him home to you one day....
To give you the chance once more to say....
How much you love him and missed him so....
Don't give up hope searching we know....

Is Bader in Saudi? .bahrain tribune

The family is losing hope even as the authorities have extended search for Bader Jawad Hussein to Saudi Arabia.
The three-year-old was reported missing from outside his home in Samaheej on July 10. The boy is a holder of a Saudi passport and both his family and police are not discounting the possibility that he may have been taken by someone else to the neighbouring country.
No clear reason was given by police on why and how Bader could end up in Saudi Arabia but the Tribune learned from Bader’s brother Mohammed yesterday that the Saudi Embassy in Bahrain has shown interest in the case.
The Saudi Embassy in Bahrain is also informed about the Bader’s case as Mohammed said that they always enquire the police stations in Saudi Arabia asking for Bader but have not received any response.
But Bader’s family yesterday was distraught, almost losing hope as another day passed without neither a trace of Bader nor a clue that could give a clear lead to the search. They received the keys of a new flat in Samaheej yesterday and plan to move soon.
Mohammed told the Tribune, “ We have no idea where Bader has disappeared. We have not received any call asking for ransom but we cannot rule out the possibility that he might be kidnapped. The police are searching day and night but there has been no headway made. We have no money to give anyone and live in poor condition.”
The hotline set up by the Bahrain Human Rights Watch Society is flooded with calls from people asking about the three –year-old. “We have sent e-mails to government establishments, foreign companies and trade unions. We have  printed about 5000 posters all across Muharraq and other areas.” said the Regional and International Director of BHRWS, Faisal Fulad.
Televisions have broadcasted the story of the missing boy  from Samaheej. MMS were circulated and now volunteers plan to use radio as a medium to air the story.
Fulad said that they are still collecting money for donation to the family.  He had also told the Tribune that local classified magazine Al waseet has agreed to publish the picture of the boy.
Tribune had first reported on July 19 that the Prime Minister Shaikh Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa and the Crown Prince, Shaikh Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa had instructed the Governor of Muharraq, Salman Bin Hindi to look into Bader’s case.
The Deputy Chief of Public Security, Brigadier Tariq Bin Daina had told the Press: “Security personnel were patrolling in the nearby areas. Workers also checked the sewerage network. Sorties were conducted and the boy’s picture has been put along Bahrain’s borders.
“The boy arrived in Bahrain this March 18. According to our information, Bader is still in Bahrain.” There has been no official statements since this then by the authorities though the search still continues.
Five years ago, Fatima’s disappearance hogged newspaper headlines but despite what were supposed to be clues and widespread community vigil, the case has gone nowhere.
Three years ago, the Filipina worker by the name of Gracie Montibon disappeared from Gudaibiya without a trace. Her daughter in the Philippines came to Bahrain to push for an investigation and a search for her mother.
But there were no results. And the media almost completely forgotten these cases.
Bader is the youngest of the five siblings and was last seen wearing a beige T-shirt with white stripes and a blue trouser. Anyone having any information can kindly contact the nearest Police Station or the BHRWS at- Tel- 17536222 Ext: 204, Fax: +973 17531822 and

New home for Bader's family -GDN
The family's dilapidated house

THE Bahraini family of a missing toddler will be evacuating from their dilapidated house in Samaheej today to temporary accommodation in the area. The move follows directives from Prime Minister Shaikh Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa on Friday to rebuild the family's house immediately.

Three-year-old Bader Jawad Hussain Mubarak vanished while playing outside his home on July 10.

Muharraq Governor Salman Bin Hindi and municipal council chairman Mohammed Hammada visited the family on Friday and informed them of the Premier's decision.

"I visited the family along with the governor and the Samaheej Municipal councillor to have a look at their house," said Mr Hammada."We found that the house was on the waiting list of the dilapidated homes' scheme and we told the family that it will be evacuated in two days so that work on rebuilding the house can be carried out immediately."

He said that the family will evacuate the house today and will be housed in a temporary flat at the Premier's expense."We would like to thank the Premier for his concern and care for the family and for speeding up the process of the grant," he said.

Bader's eldest brother Mohammed, 23, praised the Premier's support, which he said eased the family's suffering."We are all very thankful for the Premier's support as the house is in a very bad shape and could collapse at any minute," said Mr Mohammed.

"This brings some happiness to the family, but it will not be complete without the return of Bader."

Mr Mohammed said the search was still continuing and thanked the efforts of the Interior Ministry.

"We really appreciate the efforts by the Interior Ministry which works day and night to find Bader," he said.

The Samaheej Sports Club in collaboration with the Interior Ministry started a search campaign for Bader.Club executive head Mohammed Al Nowakhdha said the club had started media, social and advertising search campaigns.

"We have started with posting stickers with Bader's picture and story in Urdu, Bengali, English and Arabic all over Samaheej and neighbouring areas including cold stores, shops and other public places," said Mr Al Nowakhdha."We are not a charity fund but we wanted to show our support and help in the search for Bader."

Mr Al Nowakhdha said they were trying to help the family with financial support from the club's budget."The family is living in really poor conditions and have necessities that they cannot afford, so we are trying our best to help as much as we can," he said.

"We hope to find Bader and will continue helping the family."The Bahrain Human Rights Watch Society distributed 5,000 posters in both English and Arabic with Bader's picture and the story of his disappearance.

The posters are being distributed throughout Samaheej and Muharraq and supermarkets including Midway, Al Osra, Al Jazira, Jawad, in addition to coffee shops and malls. The society sent hundreds of MMS messages to various societies and individuals in addition to 10,000 e-mails.

It also plans to collaborate with the private sector and other individuals to donate money to Bader's family.

The society set up its own hotline for people to call with information on 17531822 or 39458605.

The Interior Ministry is asking people to call 999 if they have any information on Bader's whereabouts.

It was first thought Bader had fallen down a nearby sewer but this was discounted after firemen opened it up on July 10.Rescue teams carried out a second search of sewers in the area on Monday, using hi-tech listening and camera equipment. Officials say the search is continuing by land, sea and air.
