BHRWS worried regarding Bahrain situation in freedom in the world 2010 survey
Bahrain Human Rights Watch Society (BHRWS) is worried regarding Bahrain rating in Freedom in the World, the annual survey for "Freedom House", survey of global political rights and civil liberties.
Freedom in the World 2010 , which reported a decline for Bahrain at the level of civil liberties and political rights, as listed Bahrain being considered among the non-free, after it had been partly free. The survey «Freedom House» has rated Bahrain a degree of 6-7 for political rights, which is a downgrade in this side, while Bahrain remained unchanged and at the same previous rating of degree 5-7 for the area of civil liberties. (A rating of 7 is the worst grade and a rating of 1 is the best.)
BHRWS added that this survey by the «Freedom House» is very important, and BHRWS hopes from the official authorities in Bahrain to pay due attention to it, the survey being issued by a large corporation, and is considered to be very important, since some of the international studies are based on this report. For example, the World Competitiveness Report issued by the World Economic Forum, is based in part on this report, and the report of Transparency International also depends in part on this report, so the findings of this report by the «Freedom House» can not be disputed of it's value to Bahrain and should be given it's due importance. Particularly as it failed to act neutrally without the presence of private transactions between the countries of the world, and Bahrain only part of the various countries of the world that deal with their situation report of the Organization.
Bahrain has the opportunity that characterized the region for the issues of political and civil liberties, namely, (Bahrain) can achieve this and have the capacity, she has a civil society and the people are very much active and conscious, educated and have a parliament that works, together with a wise political leadership and to develop an active political and democratic institutions that work. Praising the progress of Bahrain in many ways compared to many of the countries of the region, but we want to be characterized by Bahrain in full and occupy outposts.
BHRWS calls the State officials to make use of it and stand on these observations, and to avoid them and work to end all the unresolved files, and work to correct the errors, for public interest and Bahrain's reputation in the interest of economic, political, and especially to the reviews and views given by some of the prominent international studies and reports which are based in part on the report of «Freedom House».

On January 12, Freedom House released its findings from the latest edition of Freedom in the World, the annual survey of global political rights and civil liberties. According to the survey’s findings, 2009 marked the fourth consecutive year in which global freedom suffered a decline—the longest consecutive period of setbacks for freedom in the nearly 40-year history of the report. These declines were most pronounced in Sub-Saharan Africa, although they also occurred in most other regions of the world. Furthermore, the erosion in freedom took place during a year marked by intensified repression against human rights defenders and democracy activists by many of the world’s most powerful authoritarian regimes, including Russia and China.
Freedom in the World 2010 reflects developments that took place in the calendar year 2009. The full survey, including the individual country reports, will be available in late spring 2010.
