'We will never stop searching for Bader' GDN

POLICE searching Bahrain for a missing toddler vowed yesterday never to give up.

The vow came as three-year-old Bader Jawad Hussain Mubarak's family pleaded for anyone with information to come forward.

No stone is being left unturned in the hunt for Bader, says Interior Ministry criminal investigation head Major Abdulaziz Al Rumaihi.

Bader, whose father is Saudi and mother Bahraini, vanished from his Samaheej home on July 10 while playing outside.

Police are working round-the-clock, investigating every possibility, from kidnapping to whether Bader wandered into the nearby sea, or fell into a sewer, said Major Al Rumaihi.

"The investigations are still continuing all over Bahrain on a 24-hour basis and we will not stop until the boy is found," he said.

"We are in continuous contact with the family and we are searching all the areas to find any lead," he said.

Maj Al Rumaihi said teams of 70 policemen at a time had scoured the area where Bader disappeared more than six times.

Bader's 50-year-old mother is said to be deeply distressed and is being comforted along with the toddler's grandmother by friends and neighbours.

Bader's father Jawad Hussain Mubarak, aged 58, pleaded with anyone who has any information on Bader to report to the family.

"Our house has turned into a ma'atam of tears and sadness all the time and the kind ladies who reside in the area are always with my mother till late hours into the night," said Bader's father Jawad, aged 58.

"Everyone is sharing our pain and sadness and residents and police have consoled us throughout our ordeal."

Mr Mubarak, who is retired, said officials at the Saudi Embassy had also been in continuous touch with the family.

"I would like to thank everyone from the Interior Ministry for their hard work and effort in finding Bader," he said.

"I would like to call upon anyone who has any kind of information on the whereabouts of Bader to please come forward."

Bader's 23-year-old brother Mohammed said the family had no enemies and could not think of anyone who would have snatched him.

He said one fear was that he had perhaps been hit by a car and the driver had panicked and taken him away.

"The last time Bader was seen was at 1.30pm and within an hour he had disappeared without a trace," said Mohammed.

"I fear that he was walking in the street and a car hit him and the criminal took him to another area and hid the body."

But Mohammed said he hoped that this was not true and asked God to return his brother safely to his mother.

Vanished

Bader vanished while playing outside the family home, which is just metres away from the sea.

His father had taken his mother to Salmaniya Medical Complex for a medical check-up, leaving him and brother Ali, 10, in the care of their grandmother.

Ali said he stayed in watching television, while Bader went to play outside, as he often did.

Bader was last seen at 1.30pm and his father called police at 7.15pm, after spending hours searching for him.

It was at first thought Bader had fallen down a nearby sewer but this was discounted after fireman opened it up on July 10.

Rescue teams carried out a second search of sewers in the area on Monday, using hi-tech equipment.

Samaheej police told the GDN that the search was still being carried out in the area every day, but no lead had materialised.

Officials said the search was continuing, "by land, sea and air".

Bader also has two other brothers, aged 20 and 15.
